iSketch

At first glance, this month’s New Yorker cover may look like many from years past. But a closer look reveals an interesting perspective regarding magazines in the digital age.
Artist Jorge Columbo drew this cover using Brushes, an iPhone app that allows him to to paint directly on the screen with his finger.
He does his iSketches on location (meaning without photo reference) and credits the technology for allowing him to draw anywhere without a brush, or a tablet, or even a light. The artist suspects this art form will be, “to drawing what email was to letter-writing. Something is lost, something gained.”
